This week, Bungie confirmed the release date for Destiny 2 and revealed a new game mode called “The Dawning”. This is what you missed.
The “destiny 2 weekly reset” is a post by Bungie that is published every Friday. It will list the changes that have been made to Destiny 2 for the week and what to expect in the coming week.
We’re cleaning up some blues at Bungie this week.
Isn’t it amazing how quickly time passes? There are just five TWABs between you and The Witch Queen, including the article you’re reading right now. We don’t (yet) have the technology to enter a hyper-sleep that can bridge these gaps, but we do have the ability to establish certain expectations on the subjects we’ll be addressing in the meantime.
This week, we’ll discuss Power, blue drops, Reputation of a Gunsmith, Exotic source changes, and more. We’ll be talking about Vanguard rep, Gambit reworks, weapon crafting, and Void 3.0 over the next several TWABs… but not necessarily in that order. Don’t forget to check out the previews for the patch notes and more weapon tuning information. It’ll be a good time, and we’ll try to offer you something to think about each week. Before the launch, we may even have a trailer or two to show you. You could have missed some bite-sized morsels of narrative if you haven’t been on social media in the previous week…
January 17, 2022 — Destiny 2 (@DestinyTheGame)
Let’s start with Power and where your Guardian will stand when it’s time to tackle The Witch Queen’s campaign.
Yours is the power.
In the world of Destiny, Power isn’t just a measure of your Guardian’s overall talents; it’s also a reliable indicator of whether or not you’ll be able to take on a particular task. While the manner in which you obtain Power will not be drastically changed in The Witch Queen, we will be releasing some general changes on launch day to get old and new players ready for a new campaign.
Let’s start with some definitions. Some of you may be familiar with these, but we’re always delighted to share new information with New Lights and returning players:
- Floor – A piece of gear’s lowest possible Power; a new character’s starting point.
- Soft cap — The moment at which general drops cease to be automatic upgrades, and powerful gear drops become the most effective method to increase Power.
- The time at which Powerful drops cease to be upgrades and Pinnacle gear drops become the sole method to obtain Power.
- Hard cap – The maximum amount of power you can get from Pinnacle drops (ignoring Artifact Power).
The Power floor will be upgraded to 1350 on February 22. Even if they’ve been away from the game for a while, every player who checks in will be at the necessary Power level to begin the Witch Queen campaign.

Players may obtain general gear via activity completions, chests, and other means to achieve the soft cap of 1500 through general gaming. This covers drops from Rare and Legendary monsters. Players will need to obtain Powerful drops through vendor challenges and other game goals if they hit the soft cap. Players will only discover upgrades from endgame activities that grant Pinnacle prizes if they hit the Power maximum at 1550. Raids, Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and other endgame PvE sources will help you reach the hard cap of 1560.
Pinnacle and Powerful sources will be adjusted, as they rotate annually to concentrate on newer Seasonal content and fresh Destiny 2 expansion content with The Witch Queen. As you begin to complete tasks, keep an eye out for tooltips that detail the many sorts of prizes available. We’re certain that our most enthusiastic players will write guides within a week of the game’s release, but we think that the Power climb will be rather simple to grasp once you have your feet on the ground on February 22.
Isn’t it “Easy” to design an economy?
Image Link imgur
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Nothing in game design is simple, particularly when dealing with the several currencies and transactions available in Destiny 2. This week, we’ll talk with Economy Feature Lead Joshua Kulinski about some interesting improvements the team is doing.
Joshua: Once players hit the soft cap in The Witch Queen, blue (rare) gifts will stop falling from playlist activities (Crucible, Strikes, Gambit, and so on). Instead, players over the soft cap (1500 Power in The Witch Queen) will have a slightly higher chance of getting Legendary prizes or a tiny number of Legendary Shards from these activities.
While blue weapons and armors will continue to drop from foes and crates in Destiny 2, we expect that this will lessen the need for players to manage their inventory and the frequency with which they visit the Postmaster while doing playlist tasks.

When it comes to rarity in Destiny 2, we have a lot of work ahead of us. While blue gear might assist players boost their Power early in the game, we’d want to take a look at how they fit into the bigger picture. We don’t foresee any dramatic changes in the coming Seasons, but we will be devoting some work behind the scenes to planning the future of Rare drops.
Reputation of a Gunsmith
Banshee-44 is getting a new reputation system that matches the other vendors in the Tower, such as Zavala and Shaxx. This means we are removing some of the items that were previously associated with Reputation of a Gunsmith, namely Gunsmith Materials and Weapon Telemetries. Players will now earn Reputation Rank progress with Banshee-44 when dismantling Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor or by completing daily Gunsmith bounties.
Before February 22, 2022, players should use their Gunsmith Materials and Weapon Telemetries at Banshee-44. Any materials that have not been used will be immediately removed from inventory.
Mods & Mod Components
Mod Components will also be removed from the game. Weapon and armor upgrades provided by Banshee-44 and Ada-1, respectively, will no longer need Mod Components to acquire and will instead cost Glimmer 10,000 apiece starting in The Witch Queen. In addition, as part of this update, the amount of modifications accessible on each vendor at any one moment will be increased from two to four.
Before we continue, it’s worth noting that any Ghost Mods that created Weapon Telemetries will be eliminated since they’re no longer useful.
These are the mods:
- Analyzer of Arcs
- Solar Energy Analyzer
- Analyzer of the Void
- Special Banshee
Rahool is in charge.
As we previously said, Master Rahool will be taking up Spider’s material exchange responsibilities in The Witch Queen. For the time being, exchange rates should mirror those provided by Spider, although these services are being moved to the Tower since the Tangled Shore will soon be closed to Guardians.
Rahool will also be scooping up some of the products that Banshee-44 and Ada-1 used to sell, particularly Prism of Enhancements and Shard Ascendants. As previously stated, this allows for additional modifications to be offered for purchase each week. These materials will be offered by Rahool at the same price that Banshee-44 and Ada-1 previously did.
Prism of Enhancement
- Enhancement Cores (10)
- 25 Materials from the Solar System
- Glimmer 10,000
- 10 Prism of Enhancements
- 100 Materials from the Solar System
- Glimmer 50,000
Before we go on to more Exotic news, Master Rahool will also be able to decode Umbral engrams, allowing players to decrypt all of the engrams in their inventory without having to jump between the H.E.L.M. and the Tower. Individual Seasonal weapons and armor will continue to be focused on Seasonal Vendors in the H.E.L.M. in the future, so if you want to decrypt a particular weapon from a certain Season, you’ll still need to go to the H.E.L.M.
Hawkmoon & Dead Man’s Tale
The Harbinger and Presage Exotic quests will be unavailable as of February 22, 2022. The team wants to keep the option for players to get these weapons in random rolls. Instead of being added to the Monument to Lost Lights, like we did with the majority of our prior Exotics that no longer have sources, these two weapons will appear in Xur’s inventory every weekend.

Every week, Xur will provide a unique roll for both Hawkmoon and The Story of a Dead Man, which may be purchased for the following materials by any player who has Beyond Light:
- 1 Shard Ascendant
- 1 Cipher Exotic
- Glimmer 125,000
- a total of 200 legendary shards
Before you go… What about those Exotic Catalysts, for example?
Oh, that’s a lot of fun! Hawkmoon, DMT, and Scepter of Ager catalysts will be transferred to the playlist activity completions (Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit). In addition to these three, we’ve introduced the potential for three catalysts who weren’t present in Destiny 2 to appear in playlist activities.
Image Link imgur
The whole list is as follows:
- The Story of a Dead Man
- Scepter of Ager
- Perfected Outbreak
- The Worm’s Whisper
- The Horseman of the Fourth Order
Perfected Outbreak and The Worm’s Whisper have both had the requirements for completing their catalyst updated so that they can be completed without access to their original activities.
Make a note of the (Raid) Date.
A fresh raid has been launched by the Witch Queen. Isn’t it surprising? We wanted to get a rally flag placed in the sand for when you can anticipate to be taking on the challenge while we still have some time before the World First race starts.

We’ll have more information on Contest Mode, Bungie Rewards, and other important features closer to the release date. Get your time-off requests in now, before it’s too late! If you’re still in school, we don’t recommend lying to your parents or forging illness papers from physicians to remain home. Make your way to class. Make sure you finish your assignment. Pass the exams with flying colors. Make an effort to be an excellent student. Conquer the essay’s raid boss, which is due next week. Raid preparation might be done in the evening. In either case, we’ll be proud of you!

We released a new patch earlier this morning (or afternoon, or evening, depending on where you live) to remedy several issues in Gambit and Dares of Eternity. In case you missed the patch notes, our Player Support team has a concise synopsis, as well as some other known problems that we’re monitoring.
This is the outcome of their investigation.
ISSUES FIXED IN HOTFIX 184.108.40.206
Hotfix 220.127.116.11 was provided to the public this week. Several problems were fixed as a result of this patch, including:
- The Wish-Ender Exotic Bow now has the ability to wear ornaments.
- If players are dead outside the crystal tunnel when the encounter starts in the Grasp of Avarice dungeon, they will no longer be stuck outside the encounter.
- After depositing enough cursed engrams in the Grasp of Avarice dungeon, the damage phase with the Ogre monster will now regularly begin.
- Colorblind settings made in Hotfix 18.104.22.168 have been restored, and we’ll look at making adjustments to colorblind settings in a future version.
ISSUES THAT ARE WELL-KNOWN
While we continue investigating various ISSUES THAT ARE WELL-KNOWN, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
- Hand Cannons may lack ammunition when they initially spawn into an area or activity.
- The game streak in Dares of Eternity now awards a maximum of 125 points each completion.
Players may consult our guide for a complete list of Destiny 2’s current difficulties.
ISSUES THAT ARE WELL-KNOWN article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.
This Week in the Life of Our Editor
In previous TWABs, we have been keeping you updated on the extensive quest to save our editor from his “apartment.” Today, this story finally has an ending! While speaking yesterday he told us that while he was out walking his propane tank (he said grumble grumble Hank Hill) he found out that he is finally calling someone about, well, everything wrong with his apartment! Hopefully this is ending the saga but tune in next week to dragon – err – “This Week in the Life of Our Editor.”
Now it’s time for MOTW!
Isn’t it lovely how the road to The Witch Queen has been? Let’s have a Sparrow race across the planets this week as we share the magnificent and ever-evolving trip we’ve been on.

Is It, nevertheless, Art?
Artists, please enter; we’re going art hunting! Every week, the Destiny 2 community amazes us with their fantastic depictions of this universe. This area usually features the more conventional side of art, but this week we decided to offer something a bit different. I chose to devote this week’s AOTW to the different types of art we see out there because of my passion of collecting gaming memorabilia and the tremendous inspiration I get from the cosplay community. This week’s AOTW choices range from an epic cosplay to a toy shot that is everything but modest.
“Looks like you have the Last Word,” says the art of the week.

For toy collectors, there’s a small Shaxx, and for Destiny fans, there’s an incredible shot.
@Bungie @A dmg04 @DirtyEffinHippy Is it possible for me to submit my toy photos as an artist of the week entry? pic.twitter.com/khp6YdurFN

Don’t forget to use the hashtags #AOTW and #Destiny2Art to show off your great works; we want to see them all! Just… take it easy on the emotions, because what’s coming next is a doozy.
Before we proceed, a little clarification is required.
A few Guardians were scouring our stories over the weekend, trying to find out whether the Iron Banner bounties will be eliminated at the conclusion of the Season. I wanted to take a minute to clarify expectations on what will be deleted when it was revealed that we had a minor mistake published on the website.
Bounties from the Iron Banner will not be withdrawn at the conclusion of the season.
- Bounties earned and fulfilled throughout this Season will be kept following the release of The Witch Queen.
- Note: Bounties from Season of the Lost will be limited at 1350 Power and will not provide players with any extra Power when redeemed next season.
- Additional information: These bounties will be eliminated at the conclusion of Season 16, since Saladin will be the next vendor to be reworked.
- Finally, since you’re here, our last Iron Banner of the season will take place during Season of the Lost’s final week.
Seasonal bounties from Seasons of the Hunt, Season of the Chosen, Season of the Splicer, and Season of the Lost will be deleted at the conclusion of each season.
At the conclusion of the Season, all bounties from the Tangled Shore location will be withdrawn.
On a per-bounty basis, certain daily bounties from general activities or locations may be eliminated based on target or reward balance.
- For example, a few Drifter and Gunsmith bounties are being considered, as well as some merchant labor.
- Note: Did we just confirm that the Drifter would receive a pass? That shouldn’t come as a surprise. In Season 16, we’re fiddling with Gambit. In a future TWAB, I’ll expand on this.
As a general rule, if you don’t want to forfeit your prizes, turn in your bounties before the new year of Destiny content reaches the servers. While some of you may be seeking to level up your Artifact more quickly than others, we anticipate that the majority of your mod unlocks will come from finishing the campaign and then getting into quests/activities. Please take your time. We have no doubts that you’ll get all the goods!
Thank you for taking the time to read another TWAB. Hippy will take up the reins for her second TWAB next week. We’ll see you out in the wild till then.
